Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics - Position #11463 and #11515.

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics beginning September 1, 2010 or as soon thereafter as possible.  The appointment will be at a rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Faculty in the department maintain well funded molecular and whole animal pharmacological research programs centered on diseases of endocrine, renal, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Neuropharmacology and cardiovascular pharmacology are the major focus of the current recruitment and are strengths of the department. One candidate will be recruited through the department to the newly established Neuroscience Research Program (Position #11515). The other candidate will be recruited through the department to the established Regenerative Medicine Research Program (Position #11463). This is an exceptional opportunity for qualified individuals to contribute to the ongoing success of the Faculty of Medicine and to create a new level of interdisciplinary research and collaboration in a department with complementary and diverse skills.

Through its close relationships with clinical departments, the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics offers an outstanding opportunity to work with clinical members of the Faculty.

The ideal candidates will have a PhD and/or MD with strong demonstrated experience in Neuroscience Research (Position #11515) or Cardiovascular Stem Cell Research (Position #11463). The new recruits are expected to teach and develop a rigorous and independently funded research program within the department. Candidates are also expected to develop strong collaborations in translational research with clinical departments.
