The University of Saskatchewan (UofS) College of Medicine and the UofS Cameco MS Neuroscience Research Center (CMSNRC) at Saskatoon City Hospital invite applications for a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Biomedical MS Research. The CRC Program is a national strategy to make Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development (www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca). Applicants must be within ten years of having received their PhD or MD/PhD. Research expertise in cellular and molecular neuroimmunology with a demonstrated track record in MS is desirable. Candidates should possess outstanding communication and leadership skills and the ability to develop an internationally recognized research program. The candidate’s research program should complement current clinical and basic science research strengths at the CMSNRC (annual report at www.saskatooncityhospitalfoundation.com/MSResearchCenter.asp). This CIHR CRC Biomedical MS Research position will supplement the research activities of a second Endowed Chair Position in Clinical MS Research recently launched (www.saskatooncityhospitalfoundation.com/MSResearchCampaign.asp) for the CMSNRC. The successful candidate will contribute to training, knowledge exchange, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and will hold a tenure-track position at appropriate rank within a department of the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan (www.medicine.usask.ca). The University of Saskatchewan is home to the Canadian Light Source, a world-class synchrotron facility that features a Biomedical Imaging and Therapy beamline (www.lightsource.ca), offering opportunities to utilize synchrotron technology for insight into MS pathologies.
