Friday, 30 October 2009
A Postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Michelle Aarts at the University of Toronto Scarborough for up to three years. The laboratory focuses on signal transduction, pathology and physiology of non-selective cation channels with a particular emphasis on the role of channel activation and signal transduction in acute neuronal injury such as stroke. Research is multidisciplinary extending from the molecular mechanisms of neuronal death and channel biochemistry to in vitro and in vivo models of stroke. The postdoctoral scholar will have access to the University of Toronto research environment, as well as to extensive facilities within the Centre for the Neurobiology of Stress at Scarborough. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in neuroscience or biochemistry. Current projects are particularly suited to candidates with expertise in electrophysiology or advanced imaging who would like to expand their training to include molecular biology and animal models of disease. Salary is guaranteed through the Canada Research Chairs program however candidates competitive for independent scholarship will be considered first. Letters of application with listed references can be forwarded to:
